Nomadic Kyrgyzstan: Lakes & Yurts
Issyk-Kul, Karakol, Kochkor and Son-Kul
Eight days around Issyk-Kul and up to the high-altitude lake Song-Kul – with nights in yurts, an eagle hunter show and genuine nomadic hospitality.

Summer is the main travel season in Kyrgyzstan. From June to September the high pastures turn green, herding families move up to the jailoo with their yurts, the passes open and Issyk-Kul is warm enough for swimming. Days are sunny and long; in Bishkek and the valleys it can be hot, while nights in the mountains stay fresh.
This is the time for yurt stays at Son-Kul, horse riding, treks to mountain lakes near Karakol and cultural encounters in the villages. May and early October are quieter shoulder months with pleasant weather for day trips, canyons and city sightseeing, although some high-altitude routes may still be closed by snow.
July and August are the busiest months, so we recommend sending your request early, especially if you need specific dates or accommodation in yurt camps.
