Nomadic Kyrgyzstan: Lakes & Yurts
Issyk-Kul, Karakol, Kochkor and Son-Kul
Eight days around Issyk-Kul and up to the high-altitude lake Song-Kul – with nights in yurts, an eagle hunter show and genuine nomadic hospitality.

Winter in Kyrgyzstan is cold, bright and much quieter than summer. From about December to March the mountains are covered in snow, the slopes above Karakol open for skiing and snowboarding, and Issyk-Kul – which does not freeze – lies dark blue between white ridges.
Our winter tours combine a few days on the slopes with relaxing in hot mineral springs near Karakol and short sightseeing stops. The ski resort is modest compared with the Alps, but it offers long runs through spruce forest, good snow in most seasons and very few queues. Beginners can take lessons with local instructors.
Please note that the high pastures, Son-Kul and most trekking routes are not accessible in winter, and mountain roads can be icy, so travel times are longer. Snow conditions and the opening dates of the ski season vary from year to year; we will confirm the current situation when you send a request.
